Ukraine. Cold snap not affecting winter crops

The sharp decline in temperatures recorded on the territory of Ukraine did not have a negative impact on winter crops. This was reported by head of agrometeorology department with the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center Tetiana Adamenko.

The cold snap was short-lived, in Chernihiv, Sumy, Rivne and Volyn regions the temperature dropped to -24-27°C degrees, but by that time snow cover had already been established there," she said.

According to Adamenko, today the weather is typical of the period. "The autumn growing season has delayed for almost a month, making it possible for winter crops to grow up and get the normal state of hibernation. Now the halt of the growing season - it is on time and correctly. For now we do not see any threat," she added.
